About the Campaign

Forests are thinning, rivers are drying, wildlife is vanishing. We’re losing clean air, safe water, and the green spaces we rely on. And yet, the European laws that have been safeguarding our nature are being quietly dismantled – under the false promise of “simplification”.

Simply put: Our nature is under attack.

We cannot let this happen.

Take Action

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Our ocean is being stripped of life to satisfy the need for profit of destructive industries – and we must stop it now.

The ocean produces every second breath we take and acts as our biggest ally against climate change. Scientists agree: protecting marine ecosystems means protecting our health, our food, and our very survival.

Almost every drop of our ocean is under stress, with an alarming 93% of European seas suffering from multiple, overlapping pressures from human activity, including overfishing, pollution and climate change.

Luckily, the laws that protect our ocean work. Where environmental and fisheries laws are properly implemented, they slowly but surely drive the recovery of our marine ecosystems: fish populations recover, waters clear and coastal communities thrive.

But powerful lobbies are pushing to tear down these laws – selling off the future of small-scale, coastal fishers and communities for their short-term corporate profits.

We need stronger protection of our marine ecosystems so we can give them the time and space to restore, thrive and become resilient again. Europe’s laws work. Without them, ecosystems and fisheries will collapse.

Sign and share the petition now to stand up for our ocean, coastal communities and the generations to come.
